Ascot: The History

Sean Magee with Sally Aird
Methuen, 2002

Ascot: The History was published to coincide with the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. Written by Sean Magee with Turnberry researcher, Sally Aird, the book outlines the history of Ascot from 1711 to 2002. Utilising the Royal Archives, and the archives of Weatherbys, the Jockey Club, the Public Record Office and the British Museum, the authors provide a comprehensive view of Ascot’s development over nearly three centuries. Commentary on the many important races held at the course, as well as Ascot’s most popular and successful horses, is also included.

The book is generously illustrated with both contemporary and historic artworks and photographs.
